On
behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of
BBBS – Mercer, I would like to give special
recognition to the many wonderful volunteers who
give so generously of their time by caring enough
to mentor a child in our community. Observing
first-hand how life-changing these relationships
can be, has made it very easy for me to develop
a passion for this work.
I
would also like to recognize the many generous
foundations, corporations and individuals in our
community who continue to support us financially,
thereby promoting growth in our various programs.
Your generosity enables us to serve many more
children in Mercer County through creative mentoring
programs that involve adults, college and high
school students who live, work or attend school
within our community.
Due
to a dedicated staff and Board, BBBS-Mercer was
able to grow our Big/Little matches by 130% in
2006 and 52% in 2007. As a result, BBBS-National
recognized our agency as being in the top 5 %
of best performing agencies nationwide for both
2006 and 2007. We are also proud to announce
that we were selected by the Trenton Funders Collaborative
(“TFC”) for a special capacity building
award for 2007, based on our results-oriented
vision and strategy. TFC consists of the following
five foundations: The Bunbury Company, The Fund
for New Jersey, The Harbourton Foundation, The
Mary Owen Borden Foundation and The Princeton
Area Community Foundation,
For
2008 we have planned growth of more than 30% and
are well on our way to achieving this goal. We
need the help of many more generous and community-minded
citizens and businesses. If you have an interest
in helping a child in need, please join our fast-growing
family. All it takes is a desire and willingness
to teach a child how to dream about life’s
possibilities.
Sincerely,
Susan M. Dunning
