Enrolling
your child in a Big Brothers Big Sisters program is easy.
Simply fill out the inquiry form online or call our office
to begin the application process.
Once you have completed an application for your child,
someone from our Program staff will contact you to set
up an interview. During the interview, there will be a
short orientation and we will ask you and your child questions
to get to know him or her better so we can make the best
match possible.
After the interview is complete, we will begin looking
for a Big Brother or Big Sister for your child. When we
find the right match, we will propose the match to you
for approval.
The process from acceptance to match can take anywhere
from two weeks to six months.
Volunteers are carefully and thoroughly screened, and
matches are made to bring together the needs of the child
and the skills, abilities and interests of the adult.
Once matched, your child will be assigned a case manager
who will work with you to help create an individual case
plan based on your child’s needs.
Throughout the life of the match, Big, Littles and parents
or guardians check in regularly with their Case Managers
who provide support and advice helping to see that the
goals of the case plan are met for each child. We provide
optional group activities, including holiday parties,
summer picnics, sporting events and cultural events.
We
match children between the ages of 6 and 14. Both the
child and volunteer are asked to make a one year commitment
to the match, and commit to seeing each other on a regular
basis. Children can stay in our programs until they turn
18. Most matches last much longer than one year and many
become lifelong friendships.
